They shall you give a better picture and background information about Spain and the Castilian town Toro. Enjoy it! Legados 2006  There was a unique exhibition of church art in Toro in 2006. The exhibition took place in 6 different location (churches and museums) spread over the whole town. Many works of art usually are in the monasteries and churches under seal. El vino de Toro  The tradition of wine making has been part of life in Toro for millenia. The wine region of the DO Toro is relatively small in relation to other wine region in Spain. But due to the high quality and the character of the Toro wines, they are rated among the top Spanish wines and exported worldwide.This pocketbook was published during the famous wine festival in 2006. It should give the reader a good overview of the history and traditions around the Toro wine. The book is available at the Tourist Office in Toro. Good bye to the last traditional potter in Toro  Felix died after a long illness. He was the 4th generation of potter in his family. His father and especially his uncle taught him the art of traditional pottery. Entering in his workshop was like travelling in time. No electricity, back to basic like his antecessors. Felix was not only an artist but a romanticists. His death is a real loss for the traditional craftwork in Toro.Abriendo fronteras Every year in spring a class from a secondary school in Dormagen ,Germany, comes to Toro. Dormagen is the twin city of Toro which is close to Düsseldorf and Cologne.  The driving force behind this project is Norbert Grimbach, a teacher, who believes that real international understanding is a subject students have to experience themselves so that they can it with them for the future. During the time in Toro they get Spanish lessons at Tolingua Spanish School. They visit a secondary school and meet students of the same age. They get a cultural and historical overview of the town and they analyze the flora in this area. “Santo Sepulcro” church and the old stone bridge are National Heritage now  The town of Toro, declared “Historic-Artistic Site”, has a new building and a bridge, amongst many others, which have been declared as National Heritage. The Spanish government and the “Instituto Cervantes” organised activities to celebrate this day. Bullfight Arena |
On July 2010 the old bullfight arena was inaugurated solemnly in Toro. After several years of costly renovations, in which old craft techniques were applied, the wooden building is there in all its splendour. The building dated from 1828, it is the second-oldest bullring in Spain. It is testimony to a glorious bygone era of the small town on the Duero river, as it was still provincial capital, where many noble families lived.
